Tim Lavery

Executive Coach and Consultant

For nearly 25 years, Tim Lavery has helped organizations define, refine and execute strategy, work effectively towards shared goals, and successfully understand and navigate change.

During his 18 years at management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, Tim worked with clients as an expert in organization effectiveness, change management and strategy development. His portfolio included a wide range of entities within the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, and the Environmental Protection Agency. As a member of Booz Allen’s senior leadership, Tim was responsible for business development in the U.S. Army research and development community in addition to managing client delivery and guiding functional teams.

Tim then joined global investment management firm T. Rowe Price, where he serves as a vice president and organization development partner. He continues to leverage his experience and knowledge to advise senior leaders on matters of strategy, change, organization design and effectiveness, and leader integration. As an internal consultant, he partners with groups in North America, Europe and Asia and frequently designs and facilitates working sessions focused on strategy, goal clarification and team development. His primary focus is on the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and Global Technology organizations, engaging with sales and investment teams as needed.

In 2020, Tim established his private practice, Wrench & Socket LLC. In this role, his mission is to help individuals and teams figure out what’s next and what it will take to get there. The Wrench & Socket service offering includes leader advisory and coaching, strategy definition, organization development, and change management, along with workshop design and facilitation.

Tim is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and sociology. He holds change management certifications from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, LaMarsh Global, and ProSci, and completed the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business Strategic Organization Design Workshop. He is also a certified practitioner of the Drexler-Sibbet Team Performance Model, the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument, the Hogan Assessment, the Birkman Method, and the Denison Culture Survey.

Tim serves on the board of trustees at Kent School and is treasurer for Emmanuel Episcopal Church, both in Chestertown. He also supports the planning and execution of Chestertown’s monthly Cars on High event and the annual Chestertown Car Show. he has lived in Chestertown since 2016 with his wife Beth and son Harrison. In his free time, he enjoys restoring and maintaining a small fleet of vintage cars, motorcycles and boats.
